Technical Wing mirror terminals

I need to fit replacement glass to my wing mirror, does it matter which wire I connect to which terminal (for the heated element)?

The terminals have no marking on them and I have a choice of black wire plus black/brown wire.

I'm assuming it's not important as it just makes a circuit either way?

I presume you've never done any work with circuits before? Depending on components, the element at best won't work, blow a fuse, burn out or cause other problems. I don't know which way they go but, wait till someone who does comes along to tell you.

If you were rewiring a plug, would you stick the wires in any old way coz, hell, it will still make a circuit?
