this was highlighted a month or so back - however as the article says -
"This will effectively ban virtually all tinted films fitted to windows forward of the B-Post on any vehicle that is to be driven on UK roads." so you can tint the rear of the car to any degree
though do correct me if im wrong!

dont confuse me again i had this worked out once.... say 100% tint lets no light through, u r allowed up to 30%. ur window is something like 5 - 12 % and smalliest tint is a 30% tint but u can get away with this as the test they use is crap

You can get lower tints then 30%, and the test has now got so bad that they are now telling everyone to remove the film....My car has got tints and they were fitted from new, if i get asked to romove them then i will argue, they are only 35% and were fitted from the manufacturer! i have a copy of the reciept from when it was new, i think they will be more understanding as fiat have fitted mine!

This is true - they are basically telling everyone to remove ANY tint on the front three windows.

There was an article in a paper I saw about a bloke with a Nissan 4x4 that had tints all round from new, who was told to have them removed from the front doors. He argued the fact that they were fitted by the manufacturer not him, they said tough, and Nissan said "sorry they weren't illegal when we fitted them" Cost him about £100 to have them removed.

Tell me if im wrong but reading that it says that most tints are illegal. So you can still have light tints. Mine is at 35% on the front and i have never had them looked at when i have been stopped. Im gonna leave them on till they stop me.

What about colour tints, like blue or green?
they arent illegal on the front windows surely as they dont block light, only sort of colour the glass slighty?

I too have 35% tints on the front, i will not be removing them with out a fight!!(not literally, but you know what i mean)

Worrying about that nissan, thats the one thing i thought would get me out off it!!!

£100, bit steep for some hot soapy water.and alot of picking!!!.lol....i sore a copper rip my mates limo tint straight off, with nothing, left alot of mess though!!

Dan, colour tints block out light too. Thats how they look coloured

This is all old news.

Personally its about bloody time they started cracking down on over tinted front windows. There are several cars around where I work with limo tints on the front. I'm amazed they have not been plodded yet. (the cars are also driven REALLY badly)

you need to remember that if your tints are 35%, you must then add the % of the tint from the glass to. if i am right its 18% glass + 35% film = 53% tint
