Does anyone know how the window control switches are illuminated?
Since getting my Brava back after its MOT the drivers side window controls are lit up all the time, whereas the passenger side doesn't light up at all.
All window controls function properly but I'm damned if I can see how they light up, there must be a little bulb or LED somewhere (unless its Fiat magic), but where the hell are they?

I realise this is a minor problem, but its annoying the hell out of me!

Any help gratefully received!

Cheers,
Stuart.

You have to split it all open and you will see not fiat magic but a green LED. The last for about 100,000 to 150,000 hours which is about 20 - 25 years of continous 24/7 usage.

I would check the connector lock under the switch to see if there is a loose wire or connection. If it is the LED which I very much doubt unless it has been shorted by a loose piece of wire or maybe water, you will a very hard job replacing like for like as it is a surface mount so is about 2mm in size so is very fiddlt to the hand but can be done.

Probably easier just to replace the switch form a scrappy :)

Stu R HGT,

thanks for the info'. I'd taken the switch to bits but my eyes obviously aren't so good as I didn't suss the tiny LED in the middle of the switch (till you pointed it out).
I tried to swap the bit in question with an old one but no go. Strange that two of these (reliable?) LED's are useless, but at least I know how to fix it, thanks to you.

Fiat electrics never cease to amaze. My glove box light has mended itself, and the cig'-lighter/ash-tray light works when it feels like it (about 60% of the time).
I reckon there must be a loose connection somewhere, but where to look? There must be loads of connections behind the dash that could be at fault.

As problems go, these are trivial. But every time I get my Brava 100% something electrical will fail, just to annoy me!

I'd thought Fiat had put electrical faults behind them, evidently not. Or does this just happen to mine?

hehe my switch lights play up all the time i just give it a good thump and heypresto they work for ages again
