I find the F500's ASR hardly ever gets activated unless you completely lose the car (it then brakes some wheels). It would be impossible for even the best driver to beat that because a no driver can only activate one of the 4 brakes in a car.


Under power it still lets you slide them before getting activated, it barely barely interferes.

You're not talking about ASR, you're talking about ESP.
 
ASR is the thing that stops therpower and the ESP is the thing that applies the brakes?

Because you can only turn off ASR yeah?

ASR applies the brakes to stop wheel spin whilst ESP kills the power. ESP is always on on the 1.4 or a 500 with ESC specified.
ASR can be turned off and it increases acceleration on the 500 but your tyres wear out more quickly.
TTC on the A500 is more sophisticated and 'acts' as a LSD and when it's engaged ASR gets turned off.

Below is a clip demonstrating the 'interference' of the ESP on the A500 with the Twingo having a 'hidden' switch to turn it off completed. Probably a good example of a test between a Turbo Verus NA. I'm not too sure how the A500 would have faired against the new Swift but the Renault has the pedigree in the chassis department. The extra 'undeclared' 10bhp of the A500 giving it 145bhp 'won the day'.

In everyday driving it would be advised to have ESP engaged given some of the antics that some of the A500 owners are 'getting up to'.
