Not sure really Seb. The impression I got from a mate having this problem with his Alfa was it could be a couple of things. First diagnosis was it was probably the Idle Control Valve, then after replacing the MAF it seemed to fix it so I'm guessing it could potentially be either.

Might be cheaper in the long run to get a garage to check it.
