Styling Will these alloys fit my Sei Sporting

Hi all,

I'm trying to find some replacement alloys for my wifes 2001 Sei Sporting, but it's proving very difficult.

All the wheel / tyre dealers are pointing to only 1 type of alloy which is acceptable, which is the Dezent Type V. The offset is 28 on a 14" wheel with 5.5J. The dealer (motor-world) is only guaranteeing fitment on a 165x60x14 tyre, but I'd rather have the 175x50/14 tyre as it will look a bit better.

Does anyone know off hand if this will fit, or if it will hit the inside of the arches?

Currently on the car I have some 14" Raceline alloys which have a 22 offset with a 6J width. They're running 195/45/14's without any problems.

I would have thought that the only issue the wheels would have is the offset, which some 6mm (or maybe 3mm) spacers would rectify.

Any thoughts / advice would be appreciated.

They should fit. You may have to mess about with spacers a little, but they'll be well possible with the tyres you want.

On t'other hand, no way are those Racelines 22 et.

Bought a set ( the dezent V-Dark ) - and took them straight back the same afternoon.

Motorworld assured me they were a straight swop - no messing around required.

Needed bolts (my sei came with studs) - but I was expecting that, but also needed 10mm spacers at front and 8mm at rear (verified by tyremen - local tyre & wheel specialists).

By this point I'd decided I didn't like the look of them anyway, so took them back and claimed misrep.

CMS do a nice 5 spoke wheel called the c7 - which comes in 4x98 fitment, with the right offset... not sure who stocks them (apart from tyremen) or how much they are though.

Could be that they simply quoted the wrong offset. They might be tight at the back, though.

Why replace 6J with 5.5J and have to endure expensive tyres? Doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

I'm quite worried now however... Can anyone suggest where I can buy some alloys which will fit straight out of the box so to speak? I'm looking to spend around £400 max, so any suggestions would be much appreciated.

I've an MOT in a couple of weeks and all my tyres are knackered (and the alloys quite tired too), so need to move quick in buying something.

Hi Fingers,

You may well be right, but I took a wheel off today and the only thing I could see which reflected a number (between 20 and 40) was under the bolt cover, where it stated e22 (not ET22).

I'm really confused...

What are other people running on and where can I buy some?

I run Compomotive MOs in 35et, 6J otherwise stock FIAT PCD, etc. with 8mm spascers up front, 3mm at the rear with 194/45/14 Uniroyal Rainsports.

Anything with an et around 35 should be fine. You might even find some s/h MOs at less than £400 -- I just sold a set with brand new (well, almost) Falkens for £300.

At 5,5x14 ET28 (as sachs claims above) there is absolutely NO NEED for spacers at the rear - in fact, they get 8mm MORE clearance than standard Abarth 14s, so I think someone messed up the calculations at tyremen. Front might fit without spacers too - if not a 3-5mm one will be sufficient.

Compared to your current wheel the Dezents will have the same position on the inside and will retract by 0,5" on the outside. So if you're not running spacers now, you shouldn't need them for the Dezents. The 175/50 tyre is also smaller in all dimensions than the 195/45, so problem there either.

...well they did a test fit (without tyres), and there wasn't anywhere near enough clearance...
