ive got a few friends who are just starting out to drive, who said about going on parents insurance, i was like no no no! dig deep and get your own policy for good reasons one being you can rack up yearly ncd's (as long as you dont claim on insurance at any stage until your renewal date. thats the main logic.)
you can do a shared policy, say for example if you and your dad both used the car, and he is the primary driver, and your the secondary driver, but the catch on that is your not allowed to do more miles than the primary driver otherwise its classed as illegal, so in other words if you want to drive then bite the bullet like everyone else has done like me for example i had to pay out £2,500 for my first year of passing for a measly 1.2 corsa! i now pay on my punto £1,256.10 which is abouit £130-35 a month the 30 or 35 is the extra i pay for the mods declared to my insurer
if you get pulled over for whatever reason and they ask to check insurance details, you'll be screwed! its happened to a friend of mine, i called him an idiot, i guess some people have to learn the hard way eh?
