Still on a tight budget so everything i am running is cheap and cheerful. At the moment i have the Pioneer 6x9's running from my head unit (45 x 4 W). Next things i want to upgrade are the front speakers and add in a sub. I have pretty much decided on getting the JBL package and looking at getting these JBL components.

What i was wondering is would my HU be able to run the 6x9's aswell as the extra components? I was going to use the amp to just power the sub?

Would this set-up work?

Thanks guys!

your hu will be able to run the 6x9's and comps

i would personally amp them up though, you are getting decent kit there, so would use it to its potential

Ok, i know very little about amps apart from that it's gonna be powering my sub. How will i be able to use my sub to increase the performance of the 6x9s or components? i.e. What will i be connecting my amp to.
Sorry for the stupid sounding question, just learning slowly :p

You connect the amp to the head unit using RCA cables. These pass a low voltage signal to the amp. The amp then "amplifies" :D the signal.

The sub won't increase the 6 x 9 performance, in high power systems it might even decrease it  The subwoofers can move a lot of air which can stop the 6 x 9 speaker cone from moving.

Having just comps in the front and a sub in the back gives a better "soundstage" ie, if you were at a concert, the music comes from infront, not behind, so try to replicate the same in your car.

Hope that clears up a few things :)
