36 or 40DCNF will work very well as a single carb, but the issue is mounting it correctly.
The DCNF bolt pattern is different to the DMTR/DATR blt pattern that your X19 has as standard.
You can modify the existing manifold to accept the wider spacing, but this will actually orient the carburettor incorrectly for best use.... in that the float bowl (mostly the float pin) axis will be along the cars length, not across it as the designer intended.... causes lean out issues on hard turns one way, but not usually the other
32dmtr/datr has 22/22 venturis with 32mm butterflys, The 36 DCNF has 36mm butterflys, but the choke sizes are changeable, available from around 24mm up to around 32mm. (A 32mm hole will flow around twice as much air as a 22mm hole... Pi x (R x R) to work out the surface area to compare)
To do the job properly means major mods to your manifold, or the purchase of a suitable X19 single DCNF manifold.
A single DCNF will give about 90% of what twins will...when it's done properly.
The first picture is a modified manifold and a standard one to compare, the second picture is what you really need to do the job properly, or modify your existing manifold to orient the DCNF like this.
