why cant i find a super chip for a 1.6??

ok so i get a 1.6 bigger engine to what im used to! so i presume perfomance bits are easyer to obtain and mostly they are but why would you chip a 1.2???? i drove 1.4s all the way through and i find them painfully slow!! what is the point??? i dont get it? why cant i get a superchip for my 1.6??

people have them but you have to have them tuned to you engine, there are a coule of people with cams and a chip

i think people put dasteks on to tune the engine for the cams which is done on a rolling road, but i thought you did that with any chip?

No point tuning a 1.6.

To do it properly would end up costing more than it would to sell your car then buy (and insure) a 1.8/2.0/JTD, all of which would be quicker than a tuned 1.6.

yeh but im only 18 and have got my car on finance so im stuck with it for 5 years at least and i can barely get insured on the 1.6 let alone a 1.8 so im just after a bit of extra performance to make me quicker?? any recomendations? i got perfomance plugs i use opti max fuel and i have a K&N filter what more can i do that aint going to cost me my arms and legs???

jesus christ!! im not to bothered though i had a 1.4 205 convertable i played with and turned into a rally car then i had an 1.4 escort for thrashing in fields and reversing through hedges to get the fun out of driving i blue everything on it possible so i got my bravo (which ive wanted since i was a kid) and so im happy and at the end of the day it does 126mph and thats more than quick enough for me!!

Have you asked how much your insurance would be with a chip? - You will probably find it cheaper to insure a standard 1.8 than a tuned 1.6.

The HGT can do only 5-10 mph more and that's a 155bhp lump.

really?? i dont think my speedos fcuked? its 51plate and never had bigger wheels on and its from a garage so surley the speedo should be right?? and i aint being an nob either i was going down the A1 on a nice flat straight just after i bought and i thought il see what she does and thats what my speedo said!! i dont get it surely the hgt should go faster than 130-135 though??? i test drove a C2 1.6 vts and got 130 so are you telling me a c2 vts would beat a hgt?? coz i doubt it!! or are you talking about by the book speeds?? coz i know mine is only meant to do 115!! im well confused???

speedos are usually out by 10%, so at 126mph, you'll probs have been doing 113.4mph... more like the 1.6's max speed figure

No speedo is accurate, especially at high speeds, but if you have a stock 1.6, I seriously doubt you hit a genuine 126. I had my HGT to 140 on the clock once or twice but that was probably nearer 132 at best. Best way to tell is via a GPS device which will be more accurate. I was monitoring mine yesterday and when my speedo said 50, the GPS was saying 46/47. This difference gets bigger the faster you go.

As for a C2 VTS, you're looking at a car that is as light as feck. The 2.0L 20v in the HGT weighs a ton (not literally) and the car is almost twice the size of that flimsy piece of french shite ! My old Punto Sporting 1.6 was ripped to shreds by a Pug 205 Rallye 1.3 once at my utter embarrasment ! The Rallye is a stripped down model that still hits a top speed of 120mph.

And anyway, the national speed limit is 60 on a single carriageway and 70 on a dual so we shouldn't be worried about any speeds above those
