hi, it's papa here again with yet another problem.came home from work yesterday to find that my bravo was clamped even though it has a valid residential parking permit in plain view in the windscreen.i applied for a parking bay over a month ago even before i bought my car but the council officer responsible for the allocation of the bays has been very ellusive and has so far not even sent me a letter stating my application status, instead she just pretends not to be in the office when i am forced to pay a visit or is off sick,on holiday or has left the office early whenever i phone.(tower hamlets borough)by the way.anyway i was told that while i wait for my parking bay i could use a residential permit instead and so have had no but to park in the visitors bay.i have used this same bay for over a month with no problems until yesterday.anyway i phoned the clampers immediatly and was promptly given the run around and i am baisically being stung for £75 to remove the clamp before i can even appeal.the most annoying thing is that people who don't even live in the area get away with parking in other peoples parking spaces and without any problems at all.it seems that the council actually target the residents instead of the people who have no respect for other peoples parking spaces.for example this is what usually goes on around my area.you go out and someone parks in your space so you have no choice but to park elsewhere and then they sting you and to make matters worse they ignore the person who is parked in your space.sorry to go on but this just annoys me to the point of madness.i can't be the only one this has happened to,so if you can relate please reply.

thanks for listening

papa

I'll bet you could buy a cordless angle grinder for less that £75

Save money

Try jacking your car up and see if you can then remove the whole wheel

Re: Save money

let your tyre completely down and then try and slip it off!
the bigger your tyres are, the easier the clamp is to remove.
when you have removed the clamp you then need to return it to a police station [still in good condition, ie, no angle grinders!] and give it in as lost property or else you can get done for theft or criminal damage!;o]

minirob is right

if you damage it or steal it you can be done for crimial damage or theft (and im sure a clamp costs more than £75!)

try the tyre trick or similar.

No no no!

You can buy wheel clamps yourself. When they come to remove yours, wheel clamp theirs and then charge them the same amount to remove it!

Alternativly, clamp your own wheels before they do!!!

Own clamp

Good idea, I'd love to see the look of bewilderment on the guys face who comes to fit a clamp to a car that already has 4 on it.
Bit drastic but proves the point, theiving ba*£$rds!

Another way

I once found a "POLICE AWARE" notice and I used to use it all the time when I parked on double yellows, worked a treat, never got another ticket..lol
