Hi Guys,

My first post here so bear with me. I am also a complete car novice so would need everything explaining in very simple terms.

I have just got an 08 bravo 120 t-jet.

There is a whooshing sound when accelerating in most gears. It starts with acceleration around 2000 rpm then dies after the acceleration stops. If i then change up gear and accelerate again then it starts again. It is rather loud in the cabin with windows closed.

Is this just the turbo kicking in or could it be a problem? it seemed quite loud to me that is why i was wondering.

Thanks for your help.

Doesn't sound right to me, mine is dead quiet.
Could be a pipes loose around the air filter, or something similar.
Check under the bonnet, the black plastic pipes?

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the feedback. As i am a complete novice does any one have a diagram of the parts under the engine i should be looking at as i am unsure what i need to be looking at.

Thanks for the help and the patience with me.

This is the pipe that you need to be checking for leaks. From turbo to air filter box. Mine is blue as its been changed to the GSR induction kit. Yours should be black. Just make sure all connections are tight.
Btw, if you don't like the sound you're getting from standard, do not buy one of these kits. Too damn loud for me. Mine as standard was extremely quiet.
Hope this helps.

I personally wouldn't worry to much. You should hear how loud the turbo whistles on my 150t.
I was a bit concerned when I first got it two and half years ago, hasn't gone bang yet.
Fingers crossed.......

That does make me wonder. Mine also is the 150, mine was as quiet as a mouse under all acceleration. It's loud now though, better throttle response with the induction kit mind.

Are you sure that is the pipe he should be checking?
That is the intake pipe.. it does not have air pressure (positive air pressure) in it... it should have vacuum.

Well if the OP does not complain of power loss then i think you might be right.
