Hello All,

I am new here and I am asking this question for a friend.

He has a Uno race car with a 1600 tipo block running standard Uno G box. He has been searching for the longest time for a LSD, as you can imagine a 700Kg Uno putting down 150 whp at 8000rpm has just a little wheel spin.

Please PM me or post with some links if you can help.
Much Appreciated.

The only slipper diff's i know for the Uno's are for the Uno Turbo g/boxes. I've got one and it came via Avanti Engineering in Somerset. They also make up close ratio boxes (which is in my box) and the alike, so you may want to talk to them, search for Avanti Engineering and you should find their site.
Or you could try and tempt me to sell it to you ;)

Thanks Guys!

I will pass all the info on.

Unfortunately 550 pounds is about 300,000 New Zealand dollars!!!!!

Nah, I think that is not a bad price. They were suposed to test last weekend so should be interesting to see how the new 45 DCOE's went.

Well 'slapper', I thought 'Kiwi' when I saw the first post, since the Tipo engine transplant doesn't seem popular in the UK.

I just happen to know someone with a Tipo motor in his Uno (well more accurately one of jjhepb1's Uno shells that I towed back from Palmy and over to Te Awamutu with my Lancia!)

And I was looking at the DCOE setup the other day (I think, though they were hidden under a rather large aluminium air scoop so they could have been DCNFs, I didn't look closely enough!) This is Blair Thomson's Uno I'm talking about - it's red rather than yellow... :)

Cheers,
-Alex

PS. 550 pounds may be $AffordablilityNZ300,000 to us, but in real $NZ it's only about 1600... ;)

This is for super uno, Do you want to sell your LSD, if so how old is it and what model gearbox do you run? Or do you want to sell your complete gearbox?

How much did your LSD cost from avanti?

At the moment we have to build a new gearbox every 10-15 race meetings, which aint to flash on the bank ballance. In saying that though they were not designed to put 170bhp or so thought them,
Cheers

Cheers alex, Yeah we are running the mk1 uno turbo box, we have found it to be the strongest, you may think the Mk2 is stronger but from what I have found and what I have been told, it is no better, the problem with both is the internals, and to be exact the syncro rings, they are an old design and realy dont handle the power, hence why I would be very happy if super uno would sell me his gearbox. I presume that it has straight cut internals,

On the point of power, I dont know how the uno turbos with 200+ hp can handle it with those gearboxs,

The box i have is close-ration and i think it is straight-cut, and is supplied by Avanti.
However you would have to offer me a lot of cash to make me sell it, PM me if you serious.

But the Syncro design is one of the main differences between the 2 different uno turbo gearboxes.

What do you need to rebuild exactly? Once they are rebuild and working good the only problem is usually the diff exploading. If you have some sympathy for it though, it should not be a problem. My Uno turbo has done many events over many years without any gearbox issues. On a previous car I did manage to blow 1 gearbox but that was it.

An LSD would be great for straight line traction but it may stuff the handling up more than a bit. IT will also cause other things to brake like the CV's and driveshafts. The CV's brake left right and centre with an LSD.
