I was on my dad's insurance as a named driver. And I was using the car at the weekend and was in an accident. Getting a GP this weekend I hope - but for insurance purposes, when I'm filling out the forms to get a quote, was it me that claimed or my dad?

Well, my dad won't be on my next car, and his other car is a seperate no claims bonus and a seperate policy. It's just when I fill out a policy in my name now, as the gp will be driven solely by me, it says any claims in the last 4 years? Yes or no?
I think your probably right, I'll put yes just in case, don't want them cancelling my policy , and its only a small amount the policy changed by with the claim.

You have to declare any accidents anyhow regardless so yes, you need to say you made a claim. In this situation, I would sort the insurance by phone rather than online...who's fault was the accident btw, makes a difference

The reason they are asking the question is because they want to know the drivers history. It was you that crashed (regardless of fault) and hence have to declare it.

Insurance companies share information, if there has been a claim by a named driver on your dad's policy they will probably know about it. If you don't declare something they could and probably would void the policy, your name would then be mud with other insurance companies probably putting your premium up. (n)
