Technical Whistle under acceleration?

After a few months of my car being nice and causing my no trouble im back

Just on my way driving home ive noticed a whistle that only comes on when im trying to accelerate . Its most noticeable at about 40-50 while acceleration in 5th. If i lose off the gas and coast it goes right away

any ideas?

You don't mention what Stilo you have. Is it Diesel?

If so have a search, I remember seeing a fair bit on here about it, normally some pipe thats split somewhere in the engine bay iirc.

its a 1.6 petrol
currently leaning towards an alternator issue!

its a common problem, your engine has grown a high performance turbo. Not long until a dump valve develops and you'll get some real street cred.

but it appears my cars ate yet another gearbox!
