General Which wheels ???

General Which wheels ???

Punto wheels would fit, the tyres would be a little bit bigger but wouldnt be a problem.
The profile on metro wheels would prob be to small.

Punto wheels ??? Ahh right. As long as the tyres don't affect the speedo drive cos I can't afford another speeding fine !!! LOL

Got some metro wheels in the back garden and they are the strange size that no other car had fitted. So doubt they will be any good.:(

Mate not had any luck, so I'm off to the scrappies in the morning to see if I can find anything.

Cheers peeps :D

Maybe check here for more than you ever wanted to know about wheels and tyres:

http://www.chris-longhurst.com/carbibles/tyre_bible.html

There is a "calculator" part way down the page which will compare wheel and tyre size to let you know the speedo error...

oooh a bit of bedtime reading.

Been to scrappies. Found a later Uno with 155/70/13's on. How much different are these to the 165/65/13's he's wearing now ? Could only manage to find 3 wheels though. :(

Well...

using the tyre calculator:

0.46%
or 0.34 MPH at 70.

And 10 mm thinner too.

You could put two of them on the front without offending anybody, apart from the style Police.

If you put them on the back it might get interesting on the limit cornering.

You aughtn't mix 165 and 155 on the same "axle" as the insurers start to disown you if they find things like that, after the event.

Also, take care with bits from the scrapper:
if it died at the MOT - probably OK
if it rolled there may be internal damage you can't see.

Look at the car they came off to decide.

One of my minis has different sized tyres on its alloys due the fronts rubbing the arches.

Looks like I'm going to have to track down 4 new tyres like the ones he's wearing now. Really don't think the ones that are on have got much life left in them. Tread is fine but the walls are perished.

Where's best to get new tyres in the size he's wearing now or are they gonna be like rocking horse poo to find ??

Sorry for all the silly questions.......not touched anything other than a mini for years :D

Too right I am. Was bombing along on the motorway yesterday then suddenly realised that the tyres are so crap I could have a blow out at anytime so had to slow down [:0] They really are THAT bad !!!! Picking them up tomorrow night. I'll feel a little bit safer then :D

It's me again !!! Picked up my new wheels/tyres last night. The rims are definitely Uno steel ones so they aren't a problem. They're all fitted with brand new 135R13's.

I've had a look on the tyre bible but it only goes down as far as 145's in the calculations bit.

Is going from 165/65/13's to 135R13's going to make much of a difference to the speedo or anything else ??? :D

if i get wheels from scrappy i always get them balanced first, don't cost much if you have them off car already and tell the guy you are paying cash no receit, saves on wheel bearing wear;)

Just fitted the new wheels. He looks all girly now with the skinny tyres on.....but looking at the state of the old tyres that I've just taken off....I think safety must come first. Tyre walls were so thin you could push them right in with your finger !!! Scary !!! [:0]
