I've recently bought a red MK1 UT that's pretty much standard apart from the rims, but i didn't like those. Could i have some advice on which tyres would suite the new rims i've bought [please see file extension], as you will see they're not what alot of people would go for but i really do think they will suite the car. What sizes/brands do you advise? Can you get low profiles for 13's/6j?

Any thoughts appreciated.

Cheers Andy.

I asked this previously. Standard tyre size for the Uno Turbo is 175/60 R13 (normally H rating). Something like a 185/60 R13 will work be a bit cheaper although it'll put your speedo out a little bit. What about a 175/50 R13, I think they do exist.

Cheers mate, i've had a look and yes they do so these wheels should fit ok on my uno right?

Yeah the wheels are PCD 98 but they aren't ET 35, slightly less if i remember correct but i should be ok with the ET being slightly less right? Anyone got any idea's as to what the lowest/highest ET is that i can get away with?

Cheers Andy.

I didn't know that the offset was called 'ET' :)

I suggest a trial fit and check for clearance to the strut, and to the gearbox end housing on full-right steering lock.

185/60/13 just fitted on my Uno Turbo but rubbed the gearbox slightly.

As for 'low profiles' for 13 x 6" rims... technically anything lower than 82 percent (no number, e.g. 155 13s) is 'low profile' :) But that is by the standards of the 1970s. I suggest the 175/60 13s if you can find them... but 185/60 is a good enough substitute. I have 195/45 15s on my Uno Turbo and I guess you'd call them 'low-profile', but I still have the same gearbox rubbing issue and it makes ****-all difference to the car's capabilities anyway, it's mostly for looks. It makes a bigger difference if you buy good quality tyres rather than 'budget' tyres.

Yes, I did type asterisks there... ;)

Maybe I'm getting a bit tyred of the high-claims for low-profiles, since I have 215/45/17s on the Stilo (the standard size!) and they're a bad choice for ride quality, steering feel etc. They probably cost as much for one tyre as for a whole set of more 'normal' tyres!

Cheers for the info, i've bought the rims and looking for tyres at the moment, i'm thinking 175/50 13 would be nice, these tyres are available by quite a few reputable companies, but now i'm not even sure which tyre brands are 'good' as the prices for the tyre have all been similar. I like the look of the dunlop sp2000 and sp3000 tyres but are dunlop a good quality tyre in comparison to the other top brands?

Cheers Andy.

i had 185 60 14s on my standard uno looked great, buy obv you've got the nice 13's, 185's held the road pretty well, esp corners and stuff was just a bit of rubbing because of the wheel and tyre height, im away off subject again, sorry guys!
