A few people here have mentioned you can limp home with a failed crank sensor via the cam sensor but my 2004 Mk2b with Bosch ME73H4F001 ECU does not have this feature and I really would like to have it rather than risk a break down on the motorway.

(ECU ME73H4F001 were available in at least 2001).

Well anything from 1999 - 2003 (non cam and twin lambda)
WONT
no crank sensor = no running

I dont think any of the punto's do that
I know vauxhalls on some of there cars, but not sure which

Not looking too hopeful then....

thanks

Tbh crank sensors fail - they fail, its not end of the world
The alternative is sad - but carry a spare - knowing you may / may not ever need it?

The 8v's fail when hot usually - when they cool, they work again
So it may be worth while noting, that you could limp home with a dying one
Obviously, the issue is when its actually dead dead, then your stuck as before
