I am going to buy a Punto Evo but don't know which one to get.
The mrs will drive most of the time on local journeys and maybe sometimes some motorways.
We don't know wether to go for the 1.4 8v or 1.4 16v. Can you guy's give me some advice on them and what to look out for in these models.
1.4 16v is the new MultiAir engine which is more economical & better performance, the 1.4 8v is a standard engine which some regard as abit under powered in previous puntos (I dont know if its the same with the new Evo)
Personally ive got the 1.4 16v and i love it, brilliant for whipping around bristol town centre in the low gears, and can cruise at 90mph on the motorway (I'd imagine
) with ease, ive only done 115mph (top) once and it felt fine aswell, didnt feel strangled or anything unstable, though after about 95 progression slows down abit..... only down side id give the whole Evo range (and probably all smaller engined cars) is the air-con/climate control on full really takes it out of the engines performance, Shame they dont do a 1.8 or something.
MrBoney had the 1.4 8v on his previous Grande Punto and says the 16v on the new Evo is a massive improvement.
Eleganza (5 door only) is the best value for money in my opinion, as once you've got a Dynamic & added a couple of extras...you may aswell be paying for an Eleganza which has everything you wanted & more.
That said, if your on a budget & not going to be using it much for distance or pet comforts etc arent an issue, then a 1.4 16v Dynamic or something would make a great runner
