147 everytime lol in the real world theres no difference mate ive driven both and just prefer the sound of the 147 over the 155, the 155 is probably better on petrol but thats it lol

Let's not start eh? tbh James, this has been done many times before and a quick search will find everything you want to know.

BTW - 155! ;)

Yes lots not argue again

I owned a 147 and have experienced 155's and as far as performance goes, it's negligble, both on paper and in reality. However, the Mk.2 155's have a better trim level (nicer things as standard) and the nice engine cover too ;)

The standard alloys are much nicer too.

As for the engine sound ? Could never hear a difference, they both sound gorgeous :)

It would appear the 147 is better if you want the basis ready for a 20vt conversion.

But it also depends what else you want from the car? I don't think there is too much difference in power. The 155 is an insurance group higher (15 not 14).

You are likely to find a 155 in better condition as it will be newer. If you go for a cloth interior rather than leather then I would say the 155/mk2 has a much better colour cloth interior.

I went from a mk1 1.8 to a mk2 2.0 and found the mk2 (so a 155 rather than a 147) had loads of little differences that made it slightly nicer inside. Things like darker interior, digital dash, fade in/out interior light went you activate central locking, auto setting and max def on the heater controls to sort out steamy windows and maintain constant temperature inside.

It's minor stuff but it makes a nice change.

The 155 does well after a remap as well :)

performancewise i agree that you wont notice the difference i have driven them back t back and there isnt a difference in my oppinion BUT the vis oes sem to be a bit more responsive low down...

however the later models are nicer inside (as said about) but i would still have the 147 because it does make a difference to insurance i even got refused insurance once on a 155 but then i asked about 147 and that was fine.

And also the vis engines tend (not all) to have electrical gremlins, although i have not heard about many hgt owners, but the same engine is in the coupe.

Anyone have a power figure for a remapped hgt?

No gremlins in my VIS. It must not like being in an inferior model. ;)

No power figure here Paul but I also didnt get a power figure beforehand either to compare to.

Remembering its an 8 year old car with 100,000 miles on the clock I doubt it was spitting out 155bhp to start with. Ideally I should have had her tested prior to remap and again after for official gains figures but I know she shifts that little bit more quicker after the map and a hell of a lot smoother.

:)
This is a question I could never answer that's why when I bought the 155 I kept the 147. I honestly can't put it into words but in the 147 I got this stupidly evil grin & thundered around like a mad man but in the 155 it just feels more grown up & I tend to dawdle around like an old woman.
BTW I just got 434 miles out of the tank in the 155 before giving in & refueling, in the 147 I got about 290 lol.

my first 147 suoerchipped with no other mods added 9hp. (yes i know superchips aren't great, thats a different debate and it was my first ever mod so i knew sod all)

both 147s ive had have been quick but must say ive never owned a standed 1, even the 1 ive got now had an exhaust back box on it lol but as im 22 the insurance is alot cheaper then the 155.

the 155 was actualy nearly as expensive to insure as the RX8 that i was going to buy lol
147 with 1 year no claims £750 with quin direct 155 as above £1170 kwick fit
RX8 231 as above £1290 with adrian flux

all quotes were fully comp
