Technical Where's the gearbox oil filler hole on a 1.2 8v please
Top of the gearbox, right behind the battery there is a black stopper, it's circular. Pull that out and pour in there, no don't fill 'til it comes out! the Level check is under the car, never checked mine before so someone will have to tell you where the level check is

Right behind the battery there is a cream coloured circular stopper that I can spin around but it does not come off easily. Is this the one please?
I assume that if I lever this off there is a big hexagonal allen key type nut underneath?

Nope just a stopper as far as I'm aware, yours may be cream, mines either black or very dirty! Just pull it out! Allen key is for the drain plug underneath if you want to drain the old oil out!!

the filler is on the front of the gearbox it is quite visable, from under the vehicle is easier, you fill up there and when it comes out its at the right level.

beau you have a mk1, it's a mk 2 I described! Automatics have it at the front aswel! But it is a mk2 we are talking about?
mk2's are the same as the mk1.
the filler/level check is on the front of the gearbox.
you can fill oil through the black hole on the top but there is no need when you removing the the plug to check the level.

Ahh right that'll be the level check i wasn't sure about then. But the actual filler hole is that stopper I said. Only know because one of my cars has it missing so was getting dirt into my oil making it a bit rough changing gears. Don't know how the hell someone loses that
Then why the stopper on top aswel :S Because that defo goes into the gearbox

Pretty tight on though for a breather, and yeah i only noticed mine was missing when it was in the garage and he pointed it out, said it was the filler cap. Maybe he stole it!
Can fill it up from either then but front would be better. Presume that's at the right level to fill to the max aswel!

well i dont really know what its meant to do, but when i done clutch on one of my last puntos i couldnt undo the filler/level plug cos i didnt have all my tools on me, so i just bunged 2L in that hole we speak of and never had any problems
so it does work as a filler hole but i dont think that is why its there.
