Technical Where is the engine serial number?

Im trying to locate the physical engine serial number on the B, (I've found the number it should be in ePer) Where should I look, is it stamped, etched or what?

Hi SverreC - It should be located in the engine bay. Pop the bonnet and look on the right side.

I have located it, but it is not readable. There is a lug on the frontside of the engine block . Just below the end of the exhaust manifold. Easier to spot if you remove the omega shaped radiator hose.
