General Where do we all carry out our homedone mechanics??

Ok so im interested to hear about all of the workshops, sheds, man draws, warehouses, driveways, garages, family washing lines (in dragonmans case) etc, where you all do the tinkering and major heart surgery on your pandas.
To start iv got a terrible drive shrubs.up either side with flags and gravel (you can see it on my pictures) and I use the conservatory for my tools and spares.
Where does everyone else work??

That's my 'workshop', the Hyundai and VW are my neighbours, the Corsa is my missus'. Basically whichever car I'm not driving out of the other 3 becomes my 'shed', and all of my tools, etc sit in the boot. Currently they're all SORN so there's stuff everywhere

Haha if its got a computer I wont touch it, my partners Car apart from oil checking gets everything done at the garage otherwise "computer says no" mine went for mot and break overhaul the garage loved it,!! Said its one of easiest cars to work on.

Nice big drive/patio!! ull have same problem as me, jacking car up in flags And they wobble and also plan a day of tlc and the British weather says no. Im looking at a 3 sided gazebo to protect from elements when servicing.

I have a long flagged driveway, will be replacing this with monoblocking next year. I have a crumbling garage which will be getting destroyed this weekend to make way for a double one I am building

It's actually a solid concrete drive so is pretty stable and flat, but (given that I live on the top of a hill in a moor with no trees around) my biggest enemy is the wind, even on a day that'd be calm anywhere else I struggle to keep car doors open without worrying about them either flying open too far or slamming shut! Have thought about a gazebo but can't really justify the cost, could just get some wooden beams and some big tarpaulins from B&Q I guess

Once Pippin is fully fettled, though, I shall do what work I can [which doesn't involve any work under the car, or heavy lifting/manual work (although I did recently change the front seats in the Punto, for Alfa 147 leather ones...) -- for reasons obvious to those wot know me...] -- on the drive (which is actually public property: as it intersects a large grass verge, in front of the house...), as I do (and the nice tyre man recently did, too...) with my Punto.



This means I can do most routine servicing stuff apart from an oil change, sadly -- which is a veritable PITA. Brakes are also out.... I therefore need to find a mobile Vernon, er, mechanic...!

Tools are kept under the stairs (in three cantilevered toolboxes); with a few spares (e.g. plugs, leads, air and gearbox filters...) in the shed!

I too have problems with wind...

...as we live at the end of a valley, next to the aptly-named Windmill Hill. We've also, therefore, toyed with getting a small, portable gazebo... -- which would also let me work on the car in the rain: especially if it had sides, to protect you from the horizontal stuff we get.... :idea:

EBay are doing gazebos for 50quid or under. Obviously there not heavy duty, but.ideal.for.me as I.can.whip it down at the end of the day so neighbours dont complain which they already love doing.

Fortunately, as most of you know, I work on cars for a living so have a nice big workshop to work in. It's full most of the time so the actual work space is normally the size of a double garage . I'm off sick at the moment (again! :bang so will have to use a couple of old pics........





As you can see I still use a gazebo, it works very well as a spray booth.

Thanks Stephen, it's only a cold but when it goes to my chest I struggle a little, legacy of having asthma as a kid. Nothing compared to what you live with day in day out. :worship:

Yes I forgot the cage at the workshop! nine Pandas can fit in there.

Moving the cars around is sometimes like playing one of those games where a picture is made up of squares that you have to move around into the right place to see it.

I too have cronic problems with wind. Embarasing in company and a dead cert if I over exert myself.
Other than that I Use a garage at my daughters, and her front garden, at my house I have an under cover thing with the sides filled in with tarpaulins.
Most of the time I can work in the dry, which I apreciate is a real bonus

I'm moving there in a few months time. Good to know there are some other pandas down there
