Hi gang

I'm sure some will remember i couldn't get my 500 moving and later found that one of the gears in the differential had dropped out of place.

I've spent a rainy afternoon dropping the differential and I have two bits that have fallen out and I have no idea where they're meant to go!

Had a look at ePer but that's not giving me much direction. Pics below - the two bits on the right

Thanks in advance!

Guessing but the large shim looks like it should be behind diff bearings to give correct preload and position to pinion gear. This positioning is critical, so may be worth consulting the technical manual and setting up with a gauge.
The other part looks like it would go over a drive shaft end to keep dirt off the oil seal.
Note these are only guesses.:)

As above.....This is important, you can't just throw all the bits together and expect longevity.
Check preload forces & end float for this diff'/engine.

Forgot to update - I found the smaller bit sits behind the driveshaft gear but had just fallen out along with the gear itself. The other part seems to sit over the driveshaft oil seal as Mike said - so all good now.
