Hi everyone whilst driving the other day i heard and fealt that heart sinking snap. my clutch cable had gone. its happened to me before in a peugeot 106 and a sierra. And now in ol' faithful. Iv always got the garage or father in law to fix it. But i need to know how to do it myself so im not reliant on anyone and to take the terror away from it.

so my querey is where do i buy a strong cable from and is it easy to fit??

I know absolutely nothing about fixing cars but would like to start fixing things myself, especially cluth cables as its one of my worst nightmares feeling that snap under your foot i hate it.

i love my little cinquecento and its been really reliable theres a few things that need doing like the speedometor has stopped working the water dosent spray from back window the mistify light dosent work all little things that i want to fix

so if theres any advise from anyone it would be a real help.
great forum by the way.

thanks guys

ps is the clutch cable snapping a common thing really hope its not as i love this car

Halfords, ebay and any motor factor. About £15.00 oh and btw it's a pain to do on a sei Not technically difficult, but very fiddly. If you have small hands it's a start. See the guides section for detailed advice.

oh no, so its a common thing on cinquecentos then? nightmare!

ok thanks for letting me know were i can get one

Yep on either cento

Dont be shocked to hear stories of owners breaking within a few miles of replacement, or owners perhaps being on their 6th/7th perhaps more clutch cable, may be advised to keep a spare also just in case

:yeahthat:

always carry a spare, if you have breakdown cover you can sometimes persuade the very nice man to replace it for you if you have the parts to hand.

It's worth trying it yourself if you have a Haynes manaul and basic tools you can do it but give yourself a bit of a time window when you loose you cherry doing it. after some practice you can do it in 20 mins by the light of a mobile phone at the side of the road with a multi-tool

no sorry cant stand the anticipation and worry that it will snap might have to look for new little runaround i love this car too, booooooo
