Hello,

I am in the process of doing an engine rebuild, I have moved everything out of the way and labelled all wires and tubes.

I am looking for mounting points so I can lift up the engine with my lifting crane.

I notice one obvious point with a huge rubber bushing, you can clearly see it on the attached image, on the left of the oil level checker.

Aside of the bolts connecting it with the transmission, where else are the mounting points, and when can I attach the chain to. I've also thought about maybe using the bolts for both the intake and exhaust manifold is this recommended?

Let me know,

Alexander

There are only 3 mounting points, the one by the cambelt end you have spotted, one under the spare wheel, and one extending back towards the passenger footwell**. The latter 2 are mounted to the gearbox rather than the engine.
Out of interest what are you planning to do? When I did my rebuild last year I just took head and sump off and left the block mounted in the car, saves a lot of hassle.

edit:**assuming it's right hand drive

Thanks for the help,

Rather than this being a job, I merely want to gain knowledge of the engine and general experience. Therefor I prefer inspecting the engine through an engine stand which I can rotate freely.

I am aware that the throttle body is still attached, that was an outdated picture. It was the best one I had of the mounting point next to the cam-belt.

Thanks again, bye! (y)
