the two previously silver wheels are now sitting in primer, ready for their first lick of red tomorrow expecting spigot rings to be here for thursday, so thats when im aiming to have finished the wheels by will do the wheel bolts tomorrow too, reckon wheel bolts will need primer/laquer or will they probably just be ok with just direct paint?

I wouldn't waste time painting wheel bolts, it'll crack and flake off the moment you apply a socket to tighten them up!

Ummm, maybe you could clean 'em up with the wire brush on a Dremel-type thing? At least they'll be shiny

Ghost I've done me wheel bolts.

Roughed them up with dremel and sand paper and then used plastikote enamel paint, brushed on then sealed with two coats of lacquer, had tyres changed and there still ok!

Cheers man, eh do you know what "Brasso" is? If not see here http://www.britsuperstore.com/acatalog/Brasso.html Metal polish stuff and green scouring pad get them that clean but also leaves little fine swirls all over too but you can't see them unless you look closely.

That one is probably my best rim too.
