Tuning Wheel spacers

Recently bought my 2014 500l. Just wonder if anyone has put spacers on to fill the arches better? rear would take some big spacers maybe 50mm to fill arches.
I'm on the standard beats edition 17" wheels with 225 45 tyres.

Personally I would sooner have wheels with more offset than spacers as they can be a problem with extra loading on the longer bolts/studs etc.
Another point with moving wheels further out is it increases the loading on the wheel bearings.
