wheel rubbing help!

Hey all - bit confused as to what is wrong, and hopefully someone can advise :(

A few weeks ago, my Bravo was parked, and wheel was turned somewhat to the left. Someone/thing hit it with enough force to break off 4 inches off the alloy rim, so i ended up getting new alloy and tyre, as well as a new shocker and had tracking done.

However, now, when i turn the wheel to nearly full lock to the left, the right tyre hits against the ridged mud protector...thing (the one nearer the front bumper).

I've noticed the new tyre is 205/40/17R 84W, whereas the others are 205/40/17R 80W - is the difference between the 80and 84 causing this problem would you think? Or have you any other suggestions?

Thanx in advance for any help guys - this has me quite stumped :(

The chassis is bent.

The number before the W is the load rating.

Cheers for the quick reply Tom.

I'm not too sure of the implications of the chassis being bent...can it be fixed easily? Is it a big job? How serious is it etc?

Thanx again

I should check first that the lower arm isnt bent as with a wack like that the arm is the weakest part, checking the camber setting will prove this as if the arm is bent you cant normally see it or measure from the centre of the wheel to the wing on both sides and this should be the same, also there is a chance that your tracking was toeing out before the collision and now that it is set correctly it now rubs.Mine rubs on full lock slightly i also have 17s and lowered 60mm..

The arm would most likely crack but the big giveaway would be the camber will be WAY out.

Get a FULL 4 wheel alignment done (should cost no more than £25-30) from somewhere like Pro-Tyre and that will give you the answers.

Just got online since last week, and noticed the replies - thanx again Tom and Johnny.

I'm taking note of what was recommended, and getting all checked out.

BTW Johnny, mine isn't lowered, which is why I'm more worried, because as far as I know, the 17s shouldn't rub with 205/40 tyres and unlowered :(

maby the mechanic that fixed it didnt put the arch liner back properly when they fixed it. chances are you have bent something tho. to take 4inch out of a wheel u must have hit it bloody hard. wrst case scenario u wil need a new sub frame. tlk to nico he had to do it on his and it was stupidly expensive.
