I know i might sound old and borring but, what is your view on petrol running out bla bla bla? it will happen one day, what do u recken?

We'll all be using hydrogen fuel cell cars by then. That or Mr Fusion ;) Don't think they'll sound "right" either way, but I guess that's just progress. It's an inevitability unfortunately, hence the reason I'd like to sample as many nice cars after the Stilo as I can :)

as i work in the industry imo can't see it running out within in the next 30 yrs they're is always somebody like the likes of shell or mobil exxon, bp or the smaller companies willing to push the boundaries of drilling adapting new technique from the old ways when it first started of in the 70's it was vertical drilling 40 yrs later it's horizontal yes i admit they're has been a bit of doom & gloom this year but they're is hope from the emerging countries africa, china & even the arctic as the ice road truckers show.

What do u think on prices. Do you think they will rocket up in a few yeers time and stay that way? If you think long and hard about it running out, I mean, there could even be wars lol. People depend on petrol to much in there life and it wouldn't be the same without it. Petrol cars are best for performance and i don't think any other type of other fueled car has matched that yet to the petrols performance. Would be interesting to see just what could be squezed from newer types of fuel. The electir car was invented to save petrol emissions, so instead they make u charge your car up by burning electricity? isn't that just stupid lol!

Prices will only keep climbing. It's the only way companies like shell will keep ploughin $$$ into exploration etc. That said, we all know the money the oil companies take off a litre pails in comparrision to what that ****** Alistair Darling takes per litre. And that freak, Brown, before him.:tosser:

theres no way its going to run out, not in our lifetime anyway, the govornment's of every country on the planet like us to think it will so they can push prices up of all fossil fuels.

imo, we have only just scratched the surface in terms of oil discoveries, there's more out there that the major companies and govornments are keeping quiet so they have their own supply when others go scarce.

but it was running on a diesel generator ;)

I thought they would've resorted to putting the hamster in a wheel :D

In terms of the whole searching for oil thing, there must be plenty unexplored places where oil can be found. I mean, there's many inhospitable areas that would currently be impossible or incredibly difficult to drill - the depths of the oceans, under the North and South Poles to name a few examples.

Also, the way technology's going - who's to say there won't be a synthetic petrol in years to come? :idea3:

Too many people putting the emphasis on the actual running out of the black stuff. We all should know it will never run out completely. But once it becomes economically unviable to extract we will have no choice but to stop using it. That will come alot sooner than many realise.

So enjoy it before the America and China use it all up. And start a wee saving fund for when you have to make the switch to a hydrogen powered car.

My view on Petrol?! I see the Pumps too often and have to give the tax man most of my money.

But what people don't actually realise is that the Retailer (Petrol Station) only gets something like 25p from the Fuel iirc.

Then the minute there's a Protest or blockade people start Panic Buying, as I witnessed back in 07 down in Sussex when I worked for Total, people heard about the Fawley Bloackade and started panic buying even though Total, BP and Tesco (I think) alll shared the 1 BP depot the other side of the Water to Fawley so we could still get Petrol, not that it affected me at the time as I had a Mountain Bike to get about on.

I dont think its even that much tbh, in every £1 of fuel, approx 80p goes to the govmnt, 20p has to be shared out between the supplier and retailer, and i'll bet the supplier gets more than 50%
