OK, there are times when even I'm stumped. This appears to be some sort of actuator that moves a lever on the end of the inlet manifold of the 155 HGT engine. There is a pipe connected to the bottom if the device that also connects to the manifold.
Only time I've seen something like that is on a Toyota with variable inlet geometry.
Does the 155 have variable inlet geometry as well as variable valve timing?
