Whats this?

OK, there are times when even I'm stumped. This appears to be some sort of actuator that moves a lever on the end of the inlet manifold of the 155 HGT engine. There is a pipe connected to the bottom if the device that also connects to the manifold.

Only time I've seen something like that is on a Toyota with variable inlet geometry.

Does the 155 have variable inlet geometry as well as variable valve timing?

I do beleve 155 has varible inlet it give's it the extra horse power well some of it as the 147 has not got actuator.
well not on mine.

Or is it a throttle damper.

Its the other end of the manifold from the throttle and the 155 has the fancy druve by wire throttle.

Can someone with a 155 take a peek at their engine and see what the arm does when you start the car.

the 1.2 has drive by wire as well

well it does in the punto sporting which is the same engine. noticed it when i was browsing through the brochure

tom, i'm sure that the 155bhp version has variable thingy-ma-bob.

I don't doubt that it does, Daz and I just need to know what that device is supposed to do as his does not do much.
