General What's the next size up Bravo equivalent?

I will have to agree with Tad-bravo on this. I own the Bravo (2007) and owned the 159 (2009). The 159 was so unreliable, everything in it was falling apart and I had to let it go last year. Parts were also so expensive. Although it was better in handling, I enjoyed driving the Bravo much more than the Alfa. Nothing in the Alfa 159 is shared with the Bravo. The engine is from GM. Maybe the newer Alfas eg. Mito, Giulietta may have some engine parts which may be similar to Bravo but I doubt they share majority of the parts. I am still with my Bravo and still enjoy every moment in it.

Doesn't prove anything. Since I am visiting that forum at least 10 people sold their Bravos and left, because they felt they had enough. Does that mean all Bravos are unreliable? No. So it's your personal experience against theirs - it's really subjective. It all depends on how you treat your car and, of course, the luck you have.

But I am sure a new 159 in my hands will not be less reliable than my Bravo is.

And by the way my gearbox is GM too, so this is not a valid point either...

I wasn't talking about reliability. I was talking about quality.

Fiat's marketing wants you to think that alfa is high end but it's not.

The price of (new) alfas might look like high end but they're not.

I have seen a gearknob fall off a new brera, leather showing sunspots in another new breara still at the dealer, mitos with plastic interiors that look like a clio's and I could go on.

There's a reason the alfa 4C is built at the mazeratti factory. alfa is not a high end manufacturer.

Fiat on the other hand is doing great efforts in quality and not relying solely on marketting B.S.
The interiors of the punto evo, bravo and new panda are great. the fiat 500 is outstanding.

Yup, I had quality issues too with 159. The door cards started to crumble, leather seats cracked, the interior rattled to glory in a 4 year old Alfa. Even the Alfa badge infront and at the back started to fade unlike the Fiat. The Alfa and the Bravo were given prompt maintenance and there was no neglect in care. Regular detailing of interior and exterior was also not compromised.

I thought I was the only one having this problem till I saw other owners of similar age Alfas selling off their cars (mind you this is in Malaysia). Some of the owners shared the same sentiments. Although most car journalist say the 159 was a better built than the 156, owners of the 156 who upgraded to 159 say otherwise. I will have to agree with them.

Unfortunately, the diesel 159 is not available in Malaysia. Only the 2.2JTS and the 3.2 V6 petrol versions. Worse still we had the Selespeed (or would it be more appropriately called Sillyspeed).

The Giulia doesn’t meet the spec

"So what's the Bravo equivalent of the Saloon world?
i.e much lower price for the same spec/age/miles as something with a 'badge' (Audi, bmw etc)"

The pic of the white Giulia in side elevation – what does it remind you of?

If that is how Guilia gonna look like, no way will I buy the Alfa.

Well I wouldn't worry those photos of the Guilia are photoshop fakes. All the car magazines mock up images of cars despite having never seen the real development model to generate sales of their magazine.

No, you got it all wrong :) The right assumption here is "imagine how cheaper FIATs are made, if Alfas are that bad" ;)
