General whats the difference

General whats the difference

About 60-70bhp hon and a lot of performance. The N/A is the same engine as the HGT (like mine ;)).

Ha Ha Have I converted u to the coupe side

Depends really sammigirl what do you want?

Do you want a stunning motor that is (relatively) cheap to insure but looks
the part but at the same time is no slouch? choose a 20v N/A.
Yes the same 147bhp 5 cylinder engine found in the brava HGT, only this time it's pulling a heavier car. 0-60 is still a respectable 8.4 secs.

Or...

Do you want a stunning motor that is costly to insure, expensive to maintain with a lot more to go wrong but...
Performance that wipes the floor with most cars your'e really likely to encounter on a day to day basis, guaranteed you will be smiling as soon as you put your foot down! 0-60 less than 6.5 secs, 0-100 in 14 or, if you prefer, faster than an escort cosworth

If you got any questions on buying a coop, let me know. This is my second now after my first broke in every way possible every day, so I know what to look out for.

Just got rid of my coupe turbo for a impreza turbo and can fully endorse buying one. I had never owned a car for longer than 12 months before the beloved coop which I had the pleasure of owning for over 2 years. The non turbo I can imagine being as much of a joy only without the superb performance but to be fair its still no slouch. Just make sure that iff you buy a coupe make sure the cam belt has been done recently because the cheapest I could find nationwide was about £550, the belt costs nothing but there is 14 hours of labour to pay for iff the job is done correctly ie engine removed!

Not anymore fella. Even Fiat have been advised of how to do it with the engine in and it can be done in 4 hours including belt, tensioners and water pump for £399 at some Fiat specialist garages (check out Rog at Powerfiat.co.uk - well respected on the Coupe forum and gettign a good rep on the Bravo one too now).

BTW, the parts cost circa £200 - £240 all in - Cambelt kits are not cheap on the 20V.

thanks :)

i want a fast looking car with the performance to go with it, thats why i wanted the turbo one, but with these silly insurance costs i am either gunna have to wait a little longer or go for a smaller engine - tough choice :(

right done a few more quotes and the best i found was with my insurance company admiral.
for me to insure a coupe with admiral it will cost me
£1966 non turbo
£1967 turbo

lol for a £1 difference i'll stick with the turbo

if i got TPFT it would be just over a grand but i dont think i could afford the risk tbh

so things are looking good for me to get a turbo :)

Ok, just done a quote for comparison purposes - 2000 Coupe, Turbo, with Admiral!

Using my age, sex, and occupation, no spouse, no points, fully comp, full NCB, quote was £499.80

Same criteria, but this time same accidents/results as you just told me, quote only moves to £643.00

Result - should have bought a coop ;)

Wow It will be cool if you get a coop, We can have little coop chats, And I can impart my wisdom (yes all 6 months of it). Anyway...

1. To answer Liam's question, Yes You can buy a LE, This is a Limited Edition
(Hence LE) Coop, It has the following extras:
Red/black RECARO seats (much comfier), Side skirts, Le Lips, Ringed rear
lights, I think it has coloured dials, Grey coloured grille and headlights, A starter button (cool) Red brembo brake calipers and a whole heap of other bits n bobs I cant think of right now. Some say the LE is a bit "Tart's Handbag" because of touches like the red seats, etc. I think it's lovely, but then I would.

You can also buy a "plus" This is not as flashy but it does have most of the features of the Le (Seats aren't red, they have red stitching) but with...
Six gears! It also comes fitted with the body coloured side skirts/lips etc.

The problem with these two (for me at least) is the price. You need to spend at least 8 grand to get a good 'un, Which is nearly double what I paid for mine!!

The solution is... Buy these

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=31352&item=7922386118&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW

And get a local garage to spray them in the correct colour.

That's all you really need to do to improve the looks of your coop, with the exception of alloys, sporty suspension, And maybe a **SMALL** boot spoiler.
After that you are messing with perfection, Bangle got it right the first time. You don't want the car to look like something out of max power... DO YOU?
I hope not.

Oh aye, sammiboo, did you try tesco's motor insurance? cheapest for me by far!!! And you get clubcard points, Which is nice. It would be nicer if there was a Tesco's within 30 miles of where i live but still, its nice. ;)

thanks pinin - no am not after a OTT body kit and i dont think it would suit a spoiler either - just want some nice touches thats all :)

i will try and get a quote from tesco - but i think they were quite dear for a friend that got a quote :(

i will have to do a bit more reading up on the coupe so i know a bit more about them before i buy but it getting closer to me getting one at least theres hope :)

i want leather seats ideally been having a mooch on ebay but all the turbos i saw had no leather seats :(

Okay yeah I can see you are sensible and wise! I just went out and bought the first coop I saw, and learnt the hard way :D
Check this forum out:

http://www.fccuk.org/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php?Cat=

Its the uk's sole Coupe forum. There is a guide to buying a coupe, what to look out for, questions to ask, as well as having loads of knowledgable coupe specialists who regularly read the posts. Well worth a look.

Oh yeah, there is always a selection of coops for sale, many have been owned by enthusiasts and no expense has been spared on their upkeep. check the for sale section.

As for leather.. Most coops have leather fitted, I would say it's a must, Just makes a special car that lil bit more spesh ;)

Thank you please

Hey - I look after my women :D :D

Nah I just don't want to see you spend your wad on a car only to find It's a money pit.

Then again, Your'e talking to the guy that bid on his coop on ebay at 2am after a night out

Lucky I got a minter, could have turned out a LOT worse!
