i need a new head on the bravo

been told i can also just replace the engine

what will cost less? easier to do etc.

what engine is it?
itd prpbably be easier just to get a full engine, head gasket sets costs like £40.

suppose it depends whats available at what price etc.

its a 1.2 on on a Y reg.

you think its better o get a new engine??

its more expensive tho??

Headgasket 200 quid all in
New engine 100-300 depending what is around, fitting etc another 200.

If it were me I would just get the head gasket done.

ive been told wiht a head gasket you need to take out the itming belt etc. is this true???

Tom are you going to be doing this yourself? If so can I suggest you buy a haynes manual.

Easy job , your looking 100 quid after new belts , oil and filter , coolant , gasket set and bolts , and to get the head skimmed . About 2/3 hours work if you do it yourself . You may aswell change all the belts and oil etc why ur at it , that way trouble free motoring for ages !

with no drive, it seems liek a daunting job

something which garages may make mony out of, but at least i wont be hassled of fixing.

but i wasnt aware that i had to change the timing belt, because if it is to be taken out, its not really right putting it back in case the tracks are wrong then it wil break once you are driving!

aargh its a pain that i did not know this before

a simpel head gasket supply and fit
now adds a whoel new timing belt and water pump fix ( i onyl repalced this 15k ago)
