what's a high profile tyre??

what's the max size of tyres I can fit on a standard steel rim?

Also what is the max size of Alloys & tyre i can fit on my uno 45S ?without loosing acceleration & top speed?

what about a flush boot ??

I am respraying my uno .Work starting tomorow.

Lot of questions on the way.!!

High profile tyre is a tyre that's much thicker than the wheel's diameter.
A low profile tyre is a tyre that's much thinner than the wheel's diamater.

I'd go for 65 profile, but even at that, the ride will be bouncy and not very grippy/refined. Alloys and tyres, you're looking at a 15" rim wearing a 195/45 tyre, or a 16" rim with 195/45 tyres if you're sexually aroused by the concept of large things in small areas... 17" rims with a 205/40 tyre will fit, but the arch mods will be large and you won't be able to have people in the back at all.

Best bet is to go for the 195/45s on 15" wheels, that way the Speedo reads more accurately (to SHOW a lower speed), but in actual fact, at 50mph, the speedo reads 50, whereas if the speedo reads 50mph with a standard wheel, the car's doing 46/47mph... acceleration is hardly lost. Ride is bumpy, though.

A flush boot is with everything removed from the boot, inc. the numberplate, and fibreglassed/fillered over to make it compeltely clear of anything. Numberplate goes on the bottom lip of the bumper with a light above it.

Hope this has helped...

This image shows the left one with a high profile, the middle one with a medium-low profile and the one on the right with a low profile tyre.

Thank You for your time, Dragyth..

That was very informative. In person, I prefer 15"s, will check the availability of tyres, and revert.

Also, what's ur opinion about a flush boot ? will look good ???

And any pics of the inside of door panels showing electric windows, as we dont have (very rare & costly) access to electric window for uno. should any other make can be fitted ? I'll be going to the breakers next week, so need this info urgently. I can wire it myself, no probs.

Mine is a 5 door, ad electrifying front doors only, as u can guess why not on a rear door !:yum:

Thanks, More info is welcomed:worship:

Hmm... if you went really Swish - - you could proably sort out rear electric windows using front electric window mechanisms, then connect all four windows to a full closure alarm system...

Firstly, delock the back doors at least, 5 doors are OK, but the handles are awful, and I'd paint the pillers inbetween the windows, so it's one long black shape down each side of the car. Looks like extended glass area.

I like a flushed tailgate, yeah. Make sure you do a proper job, though. It might be better to have a panel welded on their, and filler over that. I've never done a Mk2 tailgate.

Stick the numberplate on the lip of the bumper and put lights either side of it, or make a recess (cut away) some plastic of the bumper and stick the numberplate light in there, upside down.

If I were you, I'd go for 14s with a 50/55 profile tyre, 185 wide.
They'd probably just squeeze under the arches, and they'll suit the car's 5 door look.

Also think about meshing the front of the grille if you want to make it look pretty good. Uno Turbo front bumper & foglights (even if you don't hook them up - I like the look of em), try that, from a Mk2, and sand down, primer, wet & dry... basically, colour code.

I've never seen one REALLY WELL executed 5 door, in mk2 or mk1, although I've seen a few pretty good mk1s.

Make a breath of fresh air. =)

Post up a big picture of your car, side-on and I'll photoshop something for you.

Good luck mate.

Well take the wiring from behind the dash, leading all across the car. You'll need it all because I'm sure there won't be power points already set up.

What's yours, RHD or LHD? if it's LHD the system will be reversed, plus I have Mk1 internals (although I do have some Mk2 doors - > I don't want to pull off the trim... yet :p )

OK.

SO been to the workshop today to check the costings...well I'll be doing all the work in a workshop as labour charges are nominal here.. A proper paint job with whole systems overhaul will cost merely about 22,000 Rs, (around 250 pounds)..Any way I'll be supervising each and everything...

This is bcoz,I dont have a garage, I aint welder, I cant paint Great,And I'm short with time ( have better business to do - time = money) But I have found some time each day for her and I'll be there at the workspot as and when required..But many of the jobs,I'll be doing my own..cant explain which are now, will post a detailed story as work progresses..

Changed the water pump today, weirdest thing was, although i had no probs in finding a new waterpump from the delaler, he had'nt stoked the rubber washers/seals for it...Thank god for red silicone paste !!(y)

Well mine's a RHD one,Air conditioned, and although she's a 45 bhp'er,I can spin wheels at 2nd gear on a nice tarmac...

Well i'm posting some pix for you to photoshop, gimme some idea about flush boot and colour coding pls...

Last one is the paint I'm looking for...

Well I'm yet so see a turbo uno in my country.:(

Why I dont want electric windows on back - the glass open only half way:eek: That's the worst design I've ever seen in a car (n)

How could i delock the doors ? how can they be opened then??

Wil paint the Pillars all in black.

waiting 4 yr photoshoped pix..:worship:

Get a picture of it side-on.

didn't expect there to be so much damage! And I think you'll find most small 5dr hatches don't have fully lowerable windows. Even most saloons don't... but on the Uno it looks like they can be lowered even less than usual!

Here're three very quick, and therefore, bad, photoshops :)
None with other wheels, but I've done one for a Mk1.

This Mk1's lowered 60mm all round, clear indicators, big brake conversion up front, cross-slashed rotors, blacked pillars and 15" Silver Compomotive MO wheels...

Doors are opened with door poppers, basically like central locking solenoids but bigger. They attach onto your alarm, or on a button under the mirrors (or, in your case, mirror ;)).
Alternatively, you could delock & dehandle the rear doors and open them from the handle inside the car.

Less aerodynamic drag, too, eh? :)

just woke up.

Well that mk1 pic look nice..

Will post some nice pix in some time.Lowering is not an option here, as with the current shocks I am scraping decent ground at times .. Thanks to the roads in India...(n)

 How about dropping it 60-100mm and then fitting a pneumatic jack under the car which you can use to jump the craters in the road. Also check out knightrider, Kit has some turbo boost contraption which can jump over cars and bridges.....worth a try.

Nice car by the way, beats most of the crap tut-tuts I saw when I was out there.
