What will Monday bring???????

Well, I have finally bitten the bullet, and booked my car into a fiat garage on Monday. I have a 1.6 brava. Its a T reg and its done 50000 miles and I am loosing power like you wouldt belive. Its slow away from the lights, and last week on my way home from work, I took it on the motorway at 5am. It was totally empty, so I put it in fourth gear, floored it and after FOUR flat miles, I had reached a majestic speed of 99 miles per hour and the rev counter wasnt moving past 40000. I then came to a hill and it dropped to 80 I have changed plugs, leads, oil, oil filter and air filter, so apart from going on a diet so it carries less wheight, I am stumped. I am just worried now, in case I get anally abused by fiat on monday......lol

had a similar problem (with car) and was the knock sensor, part + diagnostic + labour £180 at a non-fiat garage, good luck

It idles fine? Hows MPG? Does it rev up fine with no load or does it splutter?

Knock, MAP or slipped cambelt.

Idles at about 10,000 but it feels just a little shuddery, pulls away slowy, esp if I get stuck at traffic lights facing uphill. The cambelt was changed quite awhile ago, but as you say, it may have slippped. Not sure about MPG, as I normally just stick a tenner in whenever it starts getting low.

Took the car in today and they put it on the life support machine, turns out I need a new coil and they are quoting £250!!!!!!

What exactly does a coil do? Maybe I can ask for the old one and make a bloody expensive paperwight out of it?
