I have a 2011 500 TA and I am upgrading the HU (to a jvc kdr901) and I was wondering what I might lose from the current factory setup. The HU supports bluetooth and I can hook my iphone to it and with its handsfree kit all I seem to lose is the use of the handset button on the steering wheel which gets transferred to the HU, but what about eco:drive? is there anything else I have missed?

You will most likely lose the USB slot ie ecodrive, you will lose the steering wheel controls unless you but the correct wiring loom adapter. Your microphone will also stop working which might not be a big problem as long as your new head unit has a built in one.

I am 99% sure its correct on the Bravo as soon as you take out the head unit all the blue and me stuff stops working, everything seems to be linked through the head unit even though there is a seperate blue&me box somewhere in the car. The 500 might be different though so would be nice to hear from someone with a 500 however its more then likely exactly the same setup.
