Hi Great site What a revalation. My first post, so thanks before we start. The question is, on my Multipla 110 JTD I need two new front tyres [somone cut the sidewall on one] having done a bit of looking, I am thinking of using Cooper Tyres. The choice is Cooper Zeon CS6 195/65 R`5 91V, or CooperZeon CS2 195/15 R15 95T XL. Do I need the extra load tyre. Thanks

I'm afraid you do yes, these cars are very heavy page 224 of the manual recommends 88H for the 185/195tyres or 88V for the 205 tyres.
BTW - Welcome!!

They're lighter than a lot of Mondeos etc - I assume it's just because of the payload it needs those tyres? Best stick to the recommendations anyway, have a crash in the wrong tyres and your insurers might try and wriggle out of paying up.

I see no mention of extra load tyres only speed.
I was only wondering if the EX tyres would give the better,or more secure ride.
The T is the much lower speed rated than the V tyre.

I agree, cheap tyres are a false economy.

i'm pretty sure the number 88 means the load rating ie. 88 is lower load rating than 91 or 95.
also the letter (H, V, etc) is the speed rating

I tried 'cheap' tyres and found that most of them are a 'hard' compound, which is ok if you like race tracks - where you can get them hot enough to grip, but normal running they are deadly! The hard compound reacts like skates and you will skid on even a slightly damp or 'cold' road.

I now only use Michelin, they give a good all round performance, cheap they ain't - good wet or dry and reliable, they certainly are.

Thanks All.
I have just orderd the Cooper Zeon CS6 195/65 R15 91V.
, as this is well over the 88 load rateing that is recomended, and seems to be a better tyre than the CS2, even though the CS2 EX is rated at 95.
Thank you all for the information, it was Great.
By the way it would seem that Coopers have a very good, if not the best Allweather Tyre CS4 touring. The feedback is very good.
