Technical What tyres on stock sporting alloys?

when I got my cinq in december 06 I put a pair of brand new nankang xr611's [aka toursport] on the back, these tyres have lasted to date 50,000 miles!!! still with 4mm of tread to go.

during late 2010 I bought a pair of Accelera's for the front, initially I was impressed with them but by last week they were at tread depth markers and terrible in the wet, I reckon they did about 12,000 miles and I dont drive the car hard at all, and do a mixture of A road and motorway

I replaced those front ones with another pair of nankang xr611 bought from tyretraders.com , the car was due mot and they fitted them for free, I am really impressed with them, steering is lighter, and they are superb in the heavy rain we have been having, also they balanced up a lot better than the Accelera's did so the car is far smoother on the motorway

So the Nankang XR611 Toursport get my vote

Thanks for the endorsement, mileage isnt really important to me, especially at these prices, but it seems nankangs drive well as well.

I just ordered a pair of Toursport 611 in the normal size, should have them halfway through next week.

Thanks to everyone for their input

I’m uncertain into what category the Nankang XR-611 fits. It seems to be simultaneously described as (depending on what sales-puff one listens to) a `performance’ & `all-weather’ & `touring’ tyre. It has a UTQC rating of 520-A-A that suggests in can go some distance – but I’d argue (although inter-brand UTQC ratings are unreliable) many tyres rated <520 could achieve 50K+ miles on the rear.

I’d be interested to learn where it sits in the EU 1222/2009 label league.

I havent found any such info on the site i ordered from. To be honest though, i couldnt care less about mileage, i wont be doing big miles with these tires anyway. Besides, i am pretty much fine with the idea that tires need replacing every 25-30k miles
