I don't want to get into the Selespeed/Manual debate - i'm happy with my manual as the majority of owners are with their selespeeds. If you're looking to save a few pounds though, a well optioned manual makes a lot of sense. (then again any Stilo is value for money)

Unless the pricing has changed - it costs more to spec a manual Abarth with the same options as the standard equipment on a Selespeed car, which is silly!

In no way am I pro Selespeed - it's ok, but I think I'd go for a manual given the choice, which there wasn't 18 months ago when I ordered the car. What annoys me is the amount of misinformation that is quoted by people. Fiat are as much to blame for this as anyone - even they can't quote a consistent set of performance figures for the car!! Too many people criticize the Selespeed (and Stilo for that matter) without having driven one.

As you say, at the end of the day if your happy, what does it matter what other people think? My neighbours probably think I'm nuts having had a 3 series touring and an S-Type (which I absolutely hated) before the Stilo :)

If you could get the same spec with a manual box for less cost, I'd go for that!

That's true actually, I suppose a lot depends on how heavy the dealer is willing to discount. One of the main reasons I got the manual was that the dealer was offering special prices on the manual but not the selespeed.
