Hello

My dad has a bit of a question about the engine in his fiat ducato motorhome, who makes it?
Its a 2010 Ducato 2.2 Multijet 100, i think its a Ford Puma engine mainly because of what wikipedia says (although im checking on here because wikipedia isnt always to be trusted), and the fact the engine mount says Puma on it, but there are none of the usual FoMoCo markings noticeable on the engine that you would see on something else using ford parts such as a Jag X type.

The mechanic who serviced the motorhome last week said its a Fiat engine, but i still think its a ford puma:

Depending on this engine are there any common problems to be aware of?

Ah yes sorry about that, wrong img tag, thats the engine out of a Touran i changed the oil on, this is the ducatos engine:

This is the bit on the engine mount that says puma:

Yep i think you'll find its a Ford TDCI Engine (as in the Transit mk 7) ...

DO NOT EVER go to Fiat or Citroen (same Engine in their Relay van range) for "spares"................. Hers MY personal experience >>>>>>

blew a hole in the Oil pipe to the Oil Cooler on my Relay .. (pipe is approx 4 INCHES long) ...

rang Citroen ... cost = £62.75
Rang Fiat.........cost = £45.85
Rang Ford.......cost = £9.75.....

You get my point !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Regards

Ah thats good to know, thanks. Is this the same engine that gives the starter problems?

As for getting the parts, that makes good sense, my friend with the X type was finding Jag parts expensive, i told him to ask for the same part for a mondeo at the breakers yard and suddenly the parts became more affordable.
