If you have lots of money get your parents to help you set up a savings account, last month I got £10 just in interest :)

If you are enjoying messing around with the car, as it appears you do, try splitting 50/50 between your savings and the car messing about on.
Try to be a happy bunny for 2 yrs by achieving both.:)

well-

17th birthday dad- another car, which is going straight on ebay, cos i wont like it :p

17th birthday mum- all my driving lessons

when i leave school i will get a £500 deposit given back

and also im going on my mums insurance (she said not me! lol) and its pretty damn cheap, less than £500

so with all that i will have enough but i want to save up too because i doubt it will go as smoothly as that :( and there is the mods...... lol

Best bet is to save as much as you can IMO. If you 'oversave' then the extra money is sitting in your account, but if you don't save enough, you may have to wait even longer to get the necessary cash together.

Assuming he doesn't have a claim of course :)

don't put it in a jar... its just loosing value. Put in an ISA or something or a conventional savings account.

I agree, it doesnt work out much cheaper, and the advantage is your racking up No Claims. Plus your more independant.

Start saving it costs around £1000 to pass your test/theory/license/lessons etc. Then you have your car/insurance/tax/MOT/any repairs/fuel/modifications.
