decisions decisions!!

My exhaust is blowing, not bad considering its over 3 years since it was changed and the car is just over 6 years old.

Now do I go to Fiat and get a new one or do I trust kwik fit or do I give my insurance company a ring and then order a supersprint? Hmmm....

Somehow me thinks the latter will be cheaper.. but then I could also order the supersprint manifold and get me a metalcat to top things off.. hmmm.......

personally i wouldn't bother with a fiat or quickfit, i'd get the supersprint, i also wouldn't try the insurance as i don't see why they would change an exhaust, and if they did i dont think it would be worth it with the no claims etc. i'd just buy the stainless, especially if your keeping the car a long time!

Re: Re: What shall I do....

I have the supersprint its quality well worth the money. Cost me about £270 fitted about 2 years ago. Made no difference to insurance. But with other insurance companies i.e. directline was about £200 extra!! for an exhaust which give all of a few bhp increase.

Re: Re: What shall I do....

Alan, it would cost me £10 to register the exhaust on my insurance, it is classed as a 'performance' item and therefore must be declared.

Re: Re: Re: What shall I do....

sorry, misread it. thought you meant claim off your insurance for a broken exhaust! it's been a long day, too much uni work to do in the next 5 weeks :(

if the insurance is only £10 extra i would go for that deffo!

Re: Re: Re: Re: What shall I do....

Hehe!! Need to claim for a new screen sometime, got ANOTHER big stonechip over xmas from one of those bloody pebbledashing lorries.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: What shall I do....

pains aint they! best i ever got was following a cement mixer that had just come off site. lost my numberplate, damaged the bumper and nearly the radiator!

POWERFLOW

tom, you seem to know everything so ill ask you mr lama. do powerflow exhausts restrict acceleration or is that just a myth, they sound so perky and sweet was thinking about it but if its gunna screw me then i wont? what exhausts does everyone prefer?!

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: What shall I do....

BTDTGTTS... but it was a dumper truck and it shed a handfull of stones on the motorway. I'm amazed it did not smash the screen as the thump was REALLY loud.

Missing some bumper paint but luckly it did not hit the bodywork.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: What shall I do....

you should ahve got the plate and given it to the insurance, let them have a bitch, unsecure load etc! lol

Re: POWERFLOW

Only a really badly designed or really old and rusty exhaust restricts.

It appears that even a supersprint is worth 0-2BHP on a bravo. Yogis had the works, K&N, stainless exhaust, supersprint manifold yet his car put out EXACTLY the stock BHP.

Powerflow are put together from universal bits more for bling than anything else.

Its up to you, any exhaust will be better than a 3-4 year old knackered exhaust, even a stock fiat one! Pick what you like the look of.

I was a little busy shitting myself at the time :)

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: What shall I do....

i rang my insurance company to tell them i was putting a new stainless steel longlife exhaust on my alfa 145 as the old one had fallen off. and they said it was ok and did'nt cost me any more money.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: What shall I do....

Mine charge an admin fee :( MOT is due before the insurance runs out too!

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: What shall I do....

I know it's slightly off topic, but I almost got hit by a sheet of plasterboard/dry wall lining the other day driving down the A92 from Aberdeen. Bloody thing flew off the roof of a van and I had to slam the anchors on. Thankfully my hire car, a SEAT Leon 1.6, had good anchors ! ;)

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: What shall I do....

it's all good fun tom :)

i got charged an admin fee of £30 when i moved house, the insurance should have gone down due to a better area, so i wrote a letter bitching about how i felt i was being singled out etc etc, laid it on quite thick and got it back as a gesture of good will! how tight am i? lol

Tight?

If you think you're tight, try this:

Customer rings up asking for a credit for a shortage on a delivery. Premium rate, national call, 4 minutes.

Cost of missing item? 3 bloody pence!!! Tosser!

Mark.
