Can anyone help me?

1. I am looking for great facts about FIAT.

2. What are the top 10 things people don't know about FIAT?

I am looking for the sort of things that you would tell a bloke (TS - You know who you are) down the pub in you got in to a discussion :)bang:) about why FIAT is great.

Thanks for your time and I promise to collate everything and post it on the forum.

:slayer:

That they are soooooooo underestimated

Hence my black Uno Turbo :D

In my eyes, Fiat have always been pioneers of design.

The LAMPREDI SOHC 8V engine is a great example

If its a French owner giving you **** about Fiat, Tell them to ACTUALLY fix their car!
Then they will change there tune mate i can assure you!

I will defend FIAT to the hills mate from experiance in my old Uno Turbo, it was my 1st car at 18 and ill never regret a miniute of owning it.

I knew nothing about it and it NEVER missed a beat, Most other manufacture owners who havent owned/driven one will slate it instantly

Good luck with the fact finding

How about the following:

The Fiat badge has a laurel around it as a symbol of its racing heritage. Think it won the Mille Miglia (1000 km race around Italy) many times.:slayer:

In the 90's, Fiat were the 22nd largest EXPORTER out of the UK(y)

The own Ferrari, Magnetti Marrelli and Case new Holland.(y)

They are involved in ship building and aircraft building(y)

All their vehicles are galvanised and so offer far better corrosion protection than virtually any other main stream manufacturer.(y)

Their diesels are recognised as probably the best in the market place, hence they are used by GM.(y)

Still owned by the Agnielli family who are so powerful their wealth is bigger than some countires GDP:worship:

There are loads of other facts but I can't remember them at the moment.

take a look at the simple, elegant solution of moving the front seats on a 3 door uno, so much easier and better than it's contemporaries.

sometimes its the coming together of lots of little ideas, that make you appreciate the whole......

1. Fiat invented the direct injection diesel.
2. they produce more aluminium then anybody else in the world.
3. late 1970's to mid 80's. Fiat made the cylinder heads for Ford and Vauxhaul due to them having zero knowledge of alloy.
4. Fiat own a company that is the only one outside NASA allowed to make rocket components for NASA. When columbus exploded killing all aboard, it was found that a major seal had failed. It was this company who came up with the new seal design still used today.
5. Fiat was the first to stick a turbo on a race car. After winning during the 1920's. they retired undefeated.
6. They are the biggest tractor makers in the world.
7. Fiat cars SPA is only 1/5th of all Fiat. This includes all Car makes Fiat own.
8. Just about all the components on a Fiat made car, is made by a company Fiat own.
9. Fiat were the first to mass produce a belt driven over head cam engine in 1966 with the Twin cam.
10. Fiat at one time held more speed records with Abarths help then anybody else. Over 100!!

Just to add, the Agnelli family no longer own Fiat. They sold out after the old man died.

Andy.:)

There works football team used to be pretty succesful...........JUVENTUS.

That's not actually true. Fiat only became involved with Juventus in 1923 when one of the Agnelli family was elected as club President. Fiat invested in the club from that point on including providing the funds to build the stands at the stadium.

Fiat have won more "Car of the year" awards than any other manufacturer.

Held the first Land speed record in the 1920's with the Metastoffilis (I'm sure I spelt that wrong)

The 1923 509 was the first car in the world with 4 seats.

First mass maker to fit heating and ventilation to their cars.

Fiat also own Maserati, Alfa, Lancia, Abarth, Autobianchi and Iveco.

The Fiat 127 was the first "Super Mini" .

The new Corsa is a GP with a different body.

Contrary to popular belief Fiats "didn't" actually rust any worse than any other make in the UK. In the late 70's and early 80's most Jap cars, Talbot, British Leyland, Ford all crumbled.
People love to bash Fiat but nearly everyone has been drawn to one at some point.

No other manufacturer has made such a diverse range of cars over the years. The Topolino to the Coupe.

Basically no-one else has a history like them. (y) (y)

Some Fiat cars have very long production runs, the 500 went from 1957 to 1975, the 126 from 1972 till 2000, the Panda 1980 to 2003 and evn the Uno is still being made in Brazil today. The 131 was going up till quite recently in Turkey and of course the little 1100 sodiered on in India for many years.

That someone worried about rust should migrate from Merc`s to Fiats........

Now who would have thought THAT could ever happen..............:)

Others are apparantly tubby in their splendid galvanised bodies :D

"oh look at me, i'm so perfect and beautiful in my modern protected body, but while people admire me, they love my older, mad sister uno, the flaky one who can outrun, turn and burn me at the drop of a hat, i'm all depressed now......must have some more pies....."

:p
