Hi All,

I noticed that the hose (outlined in green) had popped off from the engine, upon inspection, i think the clip has worn. I could just duct tape it, its a minor issue (i think). Would appreciate if someone could let me know the official term for this part is.

Also, looking at the hose, it just opens out into the area behind the front bumper - that's normal rite? Would that mean, that any fumes escaping through this vent could end up getting sucked back into the car through the air vents?

Hi.
Cold air intake pipe. It draws in combustion air from the atmosphere in front of the car, which is usually cooler than the air under the bonnet. This makes for more efficient running. If it's missing, it's no big deal because the engine still draws the right amount of air, but with less efficiency.

It is not connected to the heater ducts. If you get fumes entering the cabin while stuck in traffic, you have a recirculating control on your dash which excludes external air.

Fix it with duct tape of needed - but better still, get a replacement.
