Tuning what is the best air filter?

ive been reading some of these threads about air filters and induction kits because i been looking for one for my punto and i was told by a friend k+n are the best yet some people on here think otherwise. so i wondered what peoples opinions were on the best for performance and sound.

GSR for induction kits. KnN make good filters but there induction kits are crap. Just search through the hundreds of other threads to see what people say.

They make good filters but it depends what else you have on your induction set up.

well all ive done to my punto so far is my audio, nothing to the induction so far

Dont waste your money on a KnN then as your only gonna bolt it to the throttle body

what would you suggest then just as a basic mod then or a starting block to build from

not a huge amount, but then i do want it to sound good and hopefully 'slightly' quicker

It wont be quicker if you want to do it cheap.

well i dont mean cheap as in like £20 i do have money to spend i meant i dont want to spend a grand on like i have done on my audio

£150 will get you the best induction kit available in the form of a GSR.

Hi m8,
I have a PUNTO ACTIVE 1.2l 8V great condition engine lots of power still in it like new.

I bought a K&N induction kit very easy to install and great roaring sound when you hit about 3000+ revs (lower revs when going up hills lol).

Dont know whether it really adds BPH or anything as i havnt had it tested but great sound and proberly does make it slightly faster.

It doesnt it will loose you power sucking in all that hot air off the engine.

Thats what i thought but it supplys cold air feed with the kit to put from the filter down to the vents in the bumper so cool air goes directly from outside to the filter. Works well when goin fast on motorways because more cold air is rushing faster to the filter. Using 2 cold air feeds at the moment but might make it to 4 to ensure more cold airis goin into the system.

No it doesnt. Cold air feeds dont do jack.

The chances are you will get heat soak no matter what fro myour engine. One could have 10 cold air feeds, you still have the problem of your engine being so close.

The GSR is your best option for performance and sound. The silicon piping will help with the heatsoak aswell.

The focus induction is ok if you want a budget option. Sounds pretty good, car felt slightly more torquey when I had one on my old punto but nothing special.
