For some reason, my insurers don't know what engine is in this car.

I know there's somewhere you can check the vehicle data from just the registraiton but I don't have it saved.

Can anyone help me?

Details for RM04RSZ please :)

Thanks all.

Have you checked the log book it should be on there or if not you can get it checked by HPI . Is that what you ment?

I think its to see if its correctly registered. if the insurers cant find it, and we cant find it, then theres been a clerical error somewhere.

Your best bet might be to call Fiat:

Customer Support Helpline:
Telephone: 0800 717 000

and ask them, have the chassis number to hand when you ring.

It is indeed a Golf.

Calling Fiat is no good, lol.

I don't have the logbook to hand, however that definately is the registration.

I wanted to know whether it was the 1.9 TDI (105PS) or 2.0 TDI (140PS)

If i can remember send the plate number to 88600 as a text msg and details about the car should follow. I did that before brought my hgt.
Costs about 2 quid tho

ie text

CHECKA RMO4RSZ

TO 88600

CHECKA PLATE NO is car info
CHECKB PLATE NO not sure
CHECKC PLATE NO is accident data

:)

Not much use ringing Fiat at all, then!

If you bought it second hand, the car may have been previously registered with a private plate - hence the confusion.

I'd ring your local VW dealer with the reg and chassis number, or better still drop in and see them if it's near enough to you. They will almost certainly have a VW version of ePER which they can dial all the info up on.

I just ran this past my brother, he is a software designer for automotive sales software and uses the same sort of numberplate info lookup thing.
He says it came up as 'No vehicles' so maybe you got it written down wrong? He too says the chassis number is the next step to getting the correct reg details.

He also said his bosses wife once bought a car that left the dealership with the wrong plates! Didn't notice for two years, but they weren't registered to the car!

I've not actually bought the car yet.

However, that plate is definately correct, and it's never been on a private plate (I know who the original owner is - he is the only previous owner)

It has turned out to be a 1.9TDI (105PS), which buggers me up as I was after the 2.0TDI (140PS), so really, it's back the drawing board.

I even checked the plate with my MD just now, and the plate is correct.
