im just wondering what kind of power differance id realy feel netween the 1.6 and the 1.8.

surly they both have roughly the same pull with the 16V, but is it only as higher speeds that id feel the 1.8 eng, or would i notice it right from the pull away at the lights...?

I wouldn't have thought there would be much in it? Dunno tho.

1.8 would be more at home on motorway than the 1.6.

much more pull throughout the range, but most noticeabel at higher speeds, such as motorways. Or when in first gear.

might be a silly question, but im guessing the difference between 1.8 16v single point and 2.0 20v hgt is very big. or am i mistaken?

1.6, 1.8, and 2.0 are all multi point!!!

yeah, theres a fairly noticable difference between a 1.8 and HGT. not that i've actually ever driven an HGT mind you.

iv got both id i prefer the 1.6 every time its nippier and revs more freely imo. lighter steering etc etc if i could prise the fookin ting off the missus id drive it myself (plus she gets around 400 miles to a tank :)

so a 2.0 hgt wouldnt leave a 1.8 hlx standing then???

Yes.

I think you'll find the Mk1 and Mk2 1.8's are 113bhp (115ps) :)

Negligible difference :)

Depend's on what you've done to your 1.8 though, I don't find HGT's give me that much bother ;)

Well i havent owned a 1.6 but there is a huge difference between a HGT and a 1.8, trust me, look at my sig...(before old danny boy gets in again, i am talking about standard v standard, so but out :) )

oh and im with paul on the 1.8 vs hgt my tuned 1.6 will have 1.8s and the hgt is stil quicker expecially after 60mph it bloody flys away although not as fast as pauls new coupe turbo that makes me feel like a sitting duck.

I don't know about the cars mentioned but when it comes to bikes I always find the small ones are more fun.

Lets face it, whats more enjoyable?

Thrashing the baps of your car/bike and staying at SEMI legal speeds

OR

Costantly having to take it easy so you don't get a ban.

I know I enjoy my 19bhp trailie more than my 88bhp vfr.

It feels as if I'm really riding the tralie where as I'm always looking for somewhere to open the vfr up without getting nicked and it gets frustrating.
