What colour calipers?

I'm fitting a new brembo brake kit in a few days and I thought I may aswell get some caliper paint and do the calipers and drums a different colour at the same time.
What colour do you all think would look best on my car below? I was thinking gold could look ok but it's probably best to go for silver no?
Also what paint do you recommend and where can I get some?
Are there any tips you can give me for doing this or is it simple enough?

I used engine manifold heat resistant paint, it needs to be heat restitant paint for the brakes. I used a brush and painted it on. I used silver on my brakes. Looks really good,
you can buy the paint from Halfords or any other good motor factor.

do you reaqlly want to draw attention to rear drums?

personally i wouldnt, the 1.8 (and jtd) are quick cars and i think if a ford focus 1.8 gets them so should them.... by drawing attntion to drums ppl who know a bit about cars will think you just have a 1.2 etc (no offence 1.2 owners)

I could never understand why fiat put rear drums on the HLX's...

just my thoughts...

i would suggest red everytime, as it is a colour that goes hand in hand with brakes!
(brembo etc)

get red or silver for the fronts, and black on the rear drums, just to tidy them up, and hide the rust on them.

Paul good point! Just thought it would look nice having a bit of colour behind both front and back wheels but I can see where ur coming from.
Thanx for the advice guys, think I'll go for silver on the front and black on the back.

Anyone who actually knows about cars would know that drums work just fine ;)

Its the lax flower lot who 'fink drum breaks iz ****' :)
 
mine were dead and grinding when i did the disk conversion. drums still look ****, painted or otherwise. if you are uprating your front brakes, then wheres the harm in doing the same to the rears. drums are slower to dissipate heat, which is why they aren't used on the front, and more and more manufacturers are putting out cars with disks all round, especially the faster cars, so there are obviously benefits, or they wouldn't be spending the extra money on disks instead of drums.

The benefit is in the servicing and cost, quicker to service discs as there are no adjusters and less moving parts on a disc setup as there are no adjusters.

Have you ever gotten your drums really hot? :)
 
i wouldn't know, i have disks all round. just like the most powerful production version of the bravo does (apparently fiat did this on their most expensive bravo because its cheaper??). If this is a continuation of the 'Buzz knows **** all about brakes' thread, you can kiss my hairy ****ing ass!

lets stay on topic and suggest what colours for painted brakes are best IN OUR OPINIONS. oh **** it, i'm away for a walk to cool down before i get really mad!

afternoon danny

U know that HLX my brothers got - Well previous owner actually painted rear drums silver, and from a distance you'd actually figure them for disks (they really don't look that bad).

I've got rear disk conversions for my brother, just no picked em up yet, and i suspect he will want to pay me the £70 for em once he gets his new 17" chromes on, but he figure he's spent too much already, you can have first dibs on em :)

Nothing wrong with drums.
When was the last time you saw an artic with discs??
Most are drums all round.
