What can i do??? - eBay problem.

Hi all,

I have a slight problem with something i've bought and paid for on ebay.

Basically, i was on the look out for a head unit for my car. Saw one for a good price on ebay, checked the guys feedback (over 10,000 positive), and thought i'd go for it.

I paid for the stuff using my Paypal account, all seemed good. However, this was two weeks ago.

After a week with no goods, i emailed the guy. No response. Since then i've sent 3 emails, all with no response..

I check ebay today, and to my horrort, I find out he's "no longer a registered user". I presume this means he's banned/left the country/suspended, whatever.

I'm really running out of ideas of what to do. I've no way of contacting this unscrupulous seller, and it seems he's done a runner and i'm a ton out of pocket!

Anyone had any similar experiences, or can anyone give me any advice on what to do next.

I'm sure you can report this on paypal and see what they say. I think you'll need to act on it sooner rather than later!

To be honest mate i've been using ebay for a long time and yes there are routes you can take (contact paypal etc) but he wont get anything done, maybe a telling off! I would admit defeat unfortunatly, its scum like that who make ebay a less enjoyable place!

Yeah, file a claim through the resolution centre. They will be able to contact him as he had to put his full details in when he registered.

I'm really annoyed, as i was very careful to check his feedback etc before i bought.

I've "Reported an Item as not recieved". Have to see how it goes now i guess.

It may be a case that paypal hasnt released your funds to the buyer. Have you upgraded your account?

Unfortunately things like this can happen with even high feedback sellers - same happened to me a few months back. As long as you contact paypal before a specific length of time (28days i thik) you will be able to recover your money at least, and they will obviously raise this for you once you contact them

I got my money back from Paypal when i didnt recieve the goods and no response from the seller, so i dont see why you shouldnt get yours back as well.

i just file a no goods recieved through paypal and the seller never responed to paypals email, so paypal settled in my favour

theres a minimum limit of £15 for none paypal protection, with paypal d don't know.

What happens is that peoples accounts get hacked (when people reply to those emails asking for account details even though ebay never ask for the details) the crim then sells stuff under the good feedback rating and then doesn't deliever the goods and keeps the money.

well thats what happended to me.....i lost a tenner

The funds have definately been released to the seller,,

So i guess this could be a long & drawn out process then.

That seems a bit strange of paypal, to re-imburse people if transactions go wrong. If they do do this, surely they are just giving money away to the dishonest sellers.

they take the money out of the sellers account and remburse the buyer with it back! it happend to me a while back i got the money back but it took about a month to be all sorted out!

I've lodged a dispute with paypal. I'm off to town now to buy a replacement stereo!

the paypal protection policy lasts 28 days, file a complaint(goods not recieved)etc... asap, after the 28 days you have no hope

I only bought a cheapo stereo, it plays mp3s which is the main thing.. had a bit of a 'mare trying to get the thing to not lose it's memory everytime the engine was switched off, all sorted now though.

I've filed a paypal dispute, they say it's looking good that the guy wont respond, in which case i'll get my cash back.

I've got an mp3 sony stereo, its pretty good, although i want to get rid and buy an ipod for the car instead
